Cian with a print of his photograph of the International Space Station flying over Drombeg Stone Circle in west Cork. The image is currently on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. as part of the 'Lights Out' exhibit, which runs from March 2023-December 2026.
Meet Cian
Cian O'Regan is a freelance photographer based in Cork City, Ireland, specialising in sports, news, and landscape imagery.
Cian has photographed three U.S. Presidents, numerous professional golf events including the Ryder Cup in 2023 & 2025, in addition to dozens of news and sport assignments for The Irish Examiner.
His photos have also been featured by The New York Times, BBC News, The Irish Times, RTÉ News amongst other outlets and clients.
Drawing on his experience covering professional golf, Cian also specialises in photographing groups visiting Ireland to play its world-renowned courses, creating a lasting record of their time on golfing in Ireland.
Across his work, Cian brings an editorial eye to both the occasion and the moments around it. Whether documenting a golf trip or a news event, his photography connects people with their surroundings, creating images that tell the wider story as well as capturing the moment.
